How christendom Presents The Lord Jesus Christ

Biblical Discernment

How Does Christendom Present The Lord Jesus Christ?

d_jjackson@hotmail.com

At this time of year we see a myriad of “Nativity” scenes at churches and in individual yards. There is a movie of the same title now showing. Recently I saw the Nativity scene in two fast food restaurants. Questions:

[1] Who are the authority figure[s] in the “Nativity” scene?

[2] Paul writes that “we no longer know Him [The Lord Jesus Christ] after the flesh” - Is there any Biblical warrant for ignoring this Scripture? [2 Corinthians 5:16]

[3] Are we to present the “Baby Jesus” or the exalted, risen Lord of glory to a lost and dying world?

Many, many folks wear the “crucifix” on a gold chain around their necks. Now the crucifix portrays our Lord Jesus Christ as a corpse, hanging on the cross. Questions:

[1] Is the crucifix, in reality, a denial of our Lord’s resurrection?

[2] Is His resurrection part of the plan of salvation?

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind, overcame death and is now risen, exalted and at the right hand of God. He is not a helpless baby lying in a crib. He is not a corpse hanging on the cross. But this is how Christendom presents Him.

What do you think?
